Latin IA: Introduction to Latin

Levels: Middle and high school. (Grades 7-12)
Prerequisites: None. Students should possess independent study skills.

Required Texts: Wheelock's Latin, 6th edition; Workbook for Wheelock's Latin, 3rd edition.

Note: This class is taught through the Covenant Learning Co-op in Purcellville, Virginia. Students should register at the CLC website according to the policies and procedures outlined therein.

Overview: Latin IA is a one-year course that covers the first semester of a typical first-year high-school Latin class. Students learn the basics of Latin grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, as well as translation and prose composition skills. Work from the Wheelock's textbook is supplemented with lessons on Roman history and culture. Students are encouraged to take the Introduction to Latin National Latin Exam in the spring.
